光を刻む Light Carving

From March 20 to July 17, 2025, a new generative art work titled "Light Carving" by Shunsuke Takao was exhibited on LED cubes at Tamagawa Takashimaya S.C. The piece depicts trails of light that respond to the calendar, continuously changing form to blend into the urban environment.

The work is displayed across three LED cubes, where programmatically generated visuals evolve over time from subtle pulsations to bold fluctuations, creating a breathing-like movement. This transformation of light serves as a visual exploration of the relationship between the passage of time and spatial context.

Shunsuke Takao, born in Kumamoto Prefecture, is a creative coder who integrates programming with daily life and culture. He proposed the concept of daily coding in 2019 and gained attention with the NFT art project "Generativemasks" in 2021. He is a member of Processing Community Japan and serves as the representative director of the Generative Art Promotion Foundation.
