From September 12 to 25, 2019, FabCafe Tokyo hosted an exhibition titled "NEORT: Neo Visual Art Collection," featuring new digital artworks created by several artists utilizing the digital art sharing platform NEORT. The exhibition was open to the public free of charge, with additional paid talk events and workshops held during the period.
The exhibition presented a diverse range of digital artworks that transcended the boundaries of technology and tools. Participating artists included Shuhei Maeta, Komaden VDD Team, reona396, Kitasenju Design, kaoru, JunKiyoshi, Amagi, Almina, and aadebdeb, each employing various production environments such as Processing, TouchDesigner, openFrameworks, Cinema4D, After Effects, and Unreal Engine 4. The works featured evolving visuals over time and interactive elements, demonstrating new possibilities in digital art.
During the exhibition, a talk event was held featuring interaction designer Tohya Okuda and visualist/media artist Kenichi Kawamura, where discussions focused on the relationship between art and technology and the roles of creators. Workshops on TouchDesigner, p5.js, and AfterEffects were also conducted, providing participants with opportunities to learn digital art production techniques. The exhibition environment was supported by ASUS, which provided LCD monitors and laptops for displaying the artworks.
This exhibition offered a meaningful opportunity to experience digital art in everyday settings, addressing the limited venues for such art forms. By gathering evolving visual expressions enabled by technological advances, it highlighted the potential of platforms that promote the sharing and dissemination of digital art.
